Sometimes the small screen on the smartphone is not enough to see the details from the camera. That's why I decided to write this article on how to stream a Nest camera to a Google Chromecast.
Yeah. I like Nest cameras because they have good quality and work with Google Assistant, so let's see how it works.
The advantage of Nest and Chromecast integration
The nest and Google Chromecast integration is great. You can stream the live video stream from your camera to any TV with an HDMI input.
You can use a voice command to display the Nest camera directly on your TV and stop the video streaming as well using just your voice.
It's possible to integrate more than one camera so you can have your entire property monitored directly on a big display. Very cool, huh? 🙂
How to add the nest camera to Google Assistant
As long as you have a Nest camera up and running and a Google Chromecast working with your TV, you can work in the integration.
Here are the steps to integrate Nest cam and Google Assistant.
Yeah. It's that easy.
And now you have your Nest camera ready to stream to Chromecast.
It's also essential to use the same email for the Nest Account and the Google Home Assistant.
Stream the video to your TV
It's also essential to use the same email for the Nest Account and the Google Home Assistant.
You can choose any of your Nest cameras to stream to your Chromecast.
Just pick a name and use the voice command.
Here is an example:
"Hey Google, show Front Door on TV 1"
In this case, "Front Door" is the camera name and "TV1" is the Chromecast name connected to the TV.
You can also use "OK, Google" as the wake-up phrase.
To stop the video stream, just say "OK, Google. Stop" and it will understand that you are referring to the live video stream.
After stopping the video stream, the Chromecast returns to its natural state, which usually displays pictures on the screen.

If something goes wrong
The setup is usually straightforward, but if you have any problem adding the Nest Cam to the Google Chrome device, check the camera's Wi-Fi connection and make sure they have a strong signal to the Wi-Fi router.
You can also check if the Chromecast is working correctly on your TV by streaming some content from the Internet to the TV.
Also, remember to double-check if the devices are part of the same internal network (connected to the same Wi-Fi router) and the email is the same for the Nest and Google Home accounts.
It's also essential to have the cameras running the latest firmware.
If you are still having a hard time making your camera work, restart the cameras and the Chromecast device before trying to integrate them again and go through the process described in this article.
I hope this article can help you; please share it with your friends.
