In this article, I explain how to reset the ADT pulse gateway.
A reset is usually necessary when you see a "status unavailable" message on your ADT pulse app or in the web portal. So let's take a look at how to do that.
Besides the status unavailable message, the alarm system keeps working, you just need to reset your gateway to have access to the other pulse features.
ADT pulse gateway quick reset
Follow the steps to reset the ADT pulse gateway.
- Unplug the gateway from the power;
- Wait for 30s and reconnect it to the power;
- Wait for 5 minutes for the gateway to reconnect to the system;
- Make sure the gateway is connected to the router.
- Open the ADT pulse app or web portal to test the system.
Usually, the gateway is located next to the Wi-Fi router.
You can pull the power adapter from the outlet to power the gateway off.
The gateway features
With the ADT pulse gateway back to normal, the following features are available.
- Alarm remote control (arm & disarm);
- Light control (turn on/off);
- Thermostat adjustment;
- Live video camera feed.
You can use the ADT pulse app to remotely control everything as long as the gateway and the router on the local network are working correctly.
Take your time to follow the steps in the article and have the gateway working again. Since the alarm system is still working, you don't need to worry too much if, for some reason, you need to come back to this procedure later on.
