Here's the message that I got on my Wyze App.

Sometimes you are just playing back the footage, and suddenly, the error appears and prevents you from looking for the footage you want.

My Wyze camera started showing the error code 07 during the live view, and I got a stuttering video and a weird lag. Pretty annoying

Alright, let's see how to fix it.

How to fix the Wyze error code 07

Most of the time, fixing your Internet connection solves the Wyze error code 07, but that's not an official solution proposed by the Wyze team.

In fact, by the time I was writing this article, the Wyze engineers didn't release any documentation explaining how to fix the problem, so we relied on testing (like I did myself with my camera) and user's comments.

Here are some tips to fix it:

Check your Internet connection

The Wyze camera needs to communicate with the server on the Internet.

If something is wrong with your Internet link and the camera can't reach the Wyzer server, you will face all sorts of problems, including the error code 07.

Please check your Internet connection to make sure it is fast enough and does not have a huge latency to reach the server.

You can use the speedtest.com website to measure the Internet speed and use the ping command to check for the latency.

You should receive a response from the site and look at the time that the packets took to travel there and back. It should be 25ms or less.

The picture below shows an example of how to use the CMD command.

Notice that the time is between 10 to 16ms (milliseconds).

You can also check if the camera is too far away from your Wi-Fi router or if there are walls or metallic objects that prevent the Wi-Fi signal to reach the camera.

Move the camera or the router to get a better signal, or use a Wi-Fi extender to improve the quality of the signal; either way, it works.

Update the camera firmware

Firmware updates can solve a lot of problems.

If you are facing an error, just update the camera to help to fix it.

Visit the Wyze website and look for the latest firmware for your camera.

Follow the manufacturer's instructions for the update.

Update the Wyze App

The app update is also crucial to solving the issues.

Make sure you are using the latest version of the App to solve the issues presented by the camera. It's straightforward, and I assume you know how to update Apps on your smartphone, don't you? Just do it.

Reset the camera to the factory default setttings

Sometimes a factory default reset solves a lot of problems.

Reset your Wyze camera and start the setup again; this may help you to solve the annoying problem and get rid of the code error 7 for good.

Why does my Wyze Cam have a grainy picture?

Well, there are different things that can make your camera look grainy.

The most commons are:

• High temperature
• Lack of good illumination
• A defective circuit board or sensor

Let's discuss a little bit about those problems.

High temperature

Electronic devices are affected by high or low temperatures.

The Wyze Cam is an electronic device and thus gets affected by temperature variation, so if it gets hot, you may notice some odd problems, such as a grainy image. 

If you visit read the Wyze Cam specs, you may find the information about the maximum operating temperature of 122°F (50°C).

Even before it gets too hot, you may notice the effects of a grainy image, especially if it's dark and hot at the same time where the camera is installed.

The solution for the high-temperature problem is to install the camera away from equipment that may get hot such as motors, heaters, and things like that, and avoid direct sunlight hitting the camera.

Lack of illumination

Cameras need a good light condition to deliver a good image.

I'm talking about all cameras in general. Camcorders, DSLRs, Smartphone cameras, and security cameras get digital noise when there's no enough light.

This digital noise is noticeable as a grainy image, and it's easy to see it at nighttime.

Professional cameras with big sensors and high-level components can handle digital noise pretty well, but that's not the case for an inexpensive camera..

So, if you are using your Wyze Cam in a dark area without the night vision feature, you may notice the digital noise, also known as a grainy image.

To solve the problem, you either need to improve the illumination in the area the camera is installed or use the night vision feature (infrared  LEDs).

Go to the Advanced Settings menu and put the Night Vision Mode in Auto.

This configuration allows the camera to turn on the infrared light when it gets dark.

With the IR light, you won't see the grainy image anymore, but unfortunately, you can't see a color image as well. 

Conclusion

If you Wyze Cam has a grainy picture, take a look at the temperature and illumination. Just turn the night vision mode and you may see the grainy go away.

Yeah, I've been there. My Wyze Cam Pan had the same issue, but I solved it.

Let me explain what worked for me....

Wyze Cam With Poor Quality Image

If your Wyze Cam has a poor quality image during the day, it gets worst at nighttime, so you need to fix the problem by improving the overall quality.

Here are some things you can check (they helped to solve my problem).

A common issue most users face is camera resolution. If it's too low (360p), the video captured by the camera is not good enough, and you will notice the problem even more during the night. So please check if the camera resolution is correct.

To change the resolution, tap the icon on the left and pick an option. 

You can choose SD (Standart Resolution) or HD (High Resolution) to get a better image quality for your Wyze Cam. (I'm using HD my camera).

Your Wyze Camera connects to the Wi-Fi router,  right?

Suppose the wireless connection is not good enough because the router is too far away and the signal is not good. In that case, you may notice some blurry, pixelated, or grainy images on your camera, especially at nighttime.

Please check the Wi-Fi signal quality; here's how you can do it.

• Open the Wyze App and select your Wyze Cam;
• Tap the "gear" icon on the right top of the screen.
• In the settings menu, tap "Device Info";
• Check the Signal Strength.

Make sure there are at least two bars that indicate the signal strength.

If the signal is not good enough, please move the Wi-Fi router to a better position or use some Wi-Fi extender to improve the signal. 

Ilumination and Infrared light

Cameras need light to capture a good image, so make sure the illumination is OK.

You can install more artificial light close to the camera or use its night vision.

Make sure the night vision mode is enabled and set to automatic mode, so the camera can turn the Infrared light (IR) when it gets dark.

Tap the icon to enable the automatic night vision mode.

It's also important to make sure the camera is not pointing to a reflective object that can bounce the infrared light back to the camera lens.

Yeah, believe it or not, it's possible to get a poor image quality from your camera only because the lens is dirty, so make sure to clean up your camera.

I had this problem myself with one of my Wyze cameras installed in the kitchen and got a lot of grease in front of the lens. (So gross :))

The camera image was blurry and fuzzy, but it got much better after a clean it up, and I noticed a huge difference in the picture quality.

Firmware update

The Wyze lab team is constantly improving the camera firmware.

For example, the new firmware (4.6.10.199) implements the https://webrtc.org/ which has faster load times and better streaming for Wyze Cam.

Sometimes a simple firmware update can solve the problem.

So, check your Wyze Cam firmware and update it.

Hardware issue

The last thing you may consider is a hardware issue.

If you tried everything but still have a poor quality image from your camera, please consider replacing the camera with a new one.

Perhaps your product is still under warranty, just check.

I've seen a lot of people searching about how to view the Wyze Cam on a browser. 

At first, you use only the Wyze App to connect directly to the camera; however, I found an alternative solution that allows you to view the Wyze Cam via browser.

The solution requires a little bit of work, but you can get it done  in 10 minutes.

The solution to view the Wyze Cam via Browser

You can use a computer with free software as Media Server to convert the video stream from the Wyze Cam to a WebRTC video stream that is playable on popular Web Browsers such as Google Chrome and others.

As you can see, the Wyze Cam sends the video stream to the Media Server (a computer running free software), which allows you to connect via a web browser.

I've tested this type of technology using the Unreal Media Server software, and it works pretty fine. Keep reading to learn how to get everything working.

Test the Wyze Cam RTSP stream

IP cameras use the RTSP protocol to stream video to different platforms. This protocol is available in the Wyze Cam (as long as you install the RTSP firmware).

I'm assuming you already read my other article and have the RTSP enabled. 

Before implementing the solution with the media server, let's test the video stream from the Wyze Cam to a standard software such as VLC Player.

Grab the RTSP URL from your camera in the advanced settings menu.

The picture below shows the details.

Once you have the command, you can use the VLC software to test it.

Open the VLC software and click on Media >  "Open Network Stream".

Enter the RTSP command you got from your Wyze Cam in the previous step

Click the  "Play" button to check if the video loads correctly.

You should see the live video from your camera, just like the picture below.

OK, the first part is done. Your Wyze Cam  is running via VLC software.

Now it's time to set up the Media Server and get the camera working via browser.

Install the WebRTC free software 

Here's the step-by-step on how to set up the software to work with the WebRTC technology. Don't worry; you can download it for free. Just follow the steps below.

1. Download free Unreal Media Server

2. Install the software

3. Create a rebroadcast. Click the "Rebroacast live RTM/RTSP/WebRTC/MPEG-TS/HSL.MMS stream"

4. Enter the IP RTSP URL, Username and Password and specify an alias (name) for this broadcast, like "Samsung" and then Click the "OK" button.

6. Visit the Unreal Media WebRTC demo player webpage.

7. Click CTRL+S and save this webpage as HTML only. 

8. Open that HTML page in Notepad or other editor;

9. Go to line 44.;

10. Replace "104.194.11.25" with your computer IP address,

11. Replace "livedemocam" with the alias you used (i.e., "Wyze");

12. Replace port 80 with 5119;

13. Save that HTML page.

14. Open that webpage in a web browser.

After following these steps, you may see the video live from the camera.

I know it's a lot of steps, so I got a picture below to show you the details.

As you can see, the configuration file has the Alias, Computer's IP and port.

Please pay close attention to the configuration to get it right.

It's NOT the camera's IP and it's NOT the camera port number. 

The alias must be exact the way you entered before in the software configuration in the step number 4 (Live Broadcast Alias). Please check these details.

And it's done.

Save this file with the .html extension so you can open it in a web browser.

Double-click the file and you should see your Wyze Cam live in the web browser.

Now you need to test it out and then move to the next step to see on a website.

How see the Wyze via Web browser in the Internet

Let's see how to stream the video from the Wyze camera to the Internet.

There are 3 simple steps you can follow.

1. Edit the .html file to use the router's external IP;
2. Create new rules on the Windows firewall;
3. Configure your router for port forwarding.

Here's the first step...

1. Edit the .html file

Get the router's external IP address insert  it on the .html file.

2. Open the ports on the Windows firewall

Launch the Windows Firewall and create new rules for ports 5119 and 5135.

See the picture below.

3. Set up port forwarding in the router

Log in to your router and create rules to forward the traffic to the ports 5119 and 5135. The requests must be redirected to the Media Server's IP.

And it's done.

Depending on your router's model, the port forwarding menu should be in a different place, but the idea is to create the rules, as shown in the picture.

Now, get a second computer, a laptop or a mobile phone that is connected to the Internet and open the .html file in a web browser. 

You should see the live video from your camera via the Internet.

Now, let's see how to stream an IP camera to a website.

How to stream theWyze Cam to a website via WebRTC or Websockets

You can have the .html file on your website with an extra step.

Upload the file you've created before to your siteand use the URL to load the video from your Wyze Cam.

As long as you .html file is in place in your site and the computer running the WebRTC is online in your network, you can see your Wyze Cam via the Internet.

Some people reported a problem with the camera getting stuck with a solid yellow light. The camera was working fine in most cases, but after unplugging it from the power adapter, it can't work anymore when the power is plugged back.

What causes the solid yellow light issue

There are different reasons your Wyze camera can get stuck with this problem.

At first, the solid yellow light indicates the device is powered on and initializing.

After some time, the camera supposes to initialize and change the status to flashing yellow > flash yellow/blue > flashing blue and finally solid blue.

If the camera's internal software (firmware) gets corrupted, it can get stuck in the initializing process and never load the operating system to the memory.

The problem may also occur if there's no enough power to the camera or if the cable is not correctly connected. A bad connection can lead to a camera malfunction.

Here's a step-by-step camera troubleshooting.

Check the power cable connection

Use the original power adapter and cable that come with the camera and make sure there's no lousy connection on both ends of the cable. Remove any cable extensions to test if the problem can be solved.

The Wyze cam uses a standard USB to micro USB cable, so you can try using your smartphone's USB cable and the power adapter to test the camera.

Reflash the camera's firmware

You can install the camera's firmware again (reflash) to solve a corrupt file.

Follow the instructions below to reflash the Wyze Cam Pan firmware.

This procedure usually fixes the problem, and the camera's light changes to solid blue to indicate that it's working.

After this step, you may try using the Wyze App to check if your Wyze cam shows the live video.

Free App to view the Wyze Cam on TV

The previous picture shows the IP camera viewer App running on my TV.

I mean, the App it's not running directly on the TV, but on a Fire Stick.

As you can see, there's a Wyze logo on the bottom left and an Advertisement on the screen's top. Yes, the free version comes with those small ads.

Ok, let's learn how to set up the App to connect to the Wyze Cam. 

How to connect the Wyze Cam to a TV

Alright, there are different methods to connect your camera to a TV.

I talk about this method in another article, but that's NOT the one I will show you.

As you can see in the diagram, the device sends a command to the camera in the local network, and the camera sends the video stream. No Internet is necessary.

So, you just need to enable the RTSP on the Wyze Cam to stream to the Fire Stick.

Now, let's talk about the IP Camera Viewer configuration...

OK, I assume you installed the IP Camera Viewer on your Fire Stick TV and enabled the RTSP protocol on the Wyze Cam. Let's see how to configure the App.

Here's the step-by-step process.

• Open the IP App;
• Click on "Manage Cameras";
• Click on the "+" (Add) button;
• Select camera type (IP Camera, DVR,NVR);
• Enter the Camera information;
• Test and Save the configuration.

Make sure to enter all the camera's  information.

For the camera model select the "Wyzecam V2 (RTSP)" 

Enter the camera IP and the port 554.

Type the username (admin) and the camera's password.

The credentials (User/Passw) are the ones created during the RTSP installation.

Click the "Test" button and check if you get a confirmation.

And it's done.

Enjoy the Wyze Camera on your TV.

That was easy, right?

As long as you have your Wyze camera with the RTSP protocol enable, it takes less than 5 minutes to get it added to your TV. Now it's your turn

The App support dozes of different models.

As you can see, I have different camera brands.

Wyze cam is sharing the same screen with high-level security cameras.

To reduce Wi-Fi interference, you can change the channels in your router, try using the numbers 1, 6, and 11, and please don't ever think about using the other ones. 

Perhaps your neighbors are not using channels 2, 3, or 9, and you may think these are good channels to avoid interference, but please don't do that.

Use a Wi-Fi repeater

This type of repeater can boost the signal and help reach the far away devices from the router (like your Wyze Cam).
